Pentecost 2016 will be another opportunity to enjoy classical music in the fabulous surroundings of Château Brunegg. The innermost meaning of Pentecost is particularly relevant to a music festival - music, more than any other art form, has the potential to span the boundaries of language, culture and age.
In classical music, words are practically only ever sung. Gesungene Zeit (“A Time of Singing”) is the theme of this year’s festival. Our “artiste étoile 2016”, the fabulous German soprano Sophie Klußmann, will sweep us away into a world of cantatas and songs. It is not only the human voice, that will sing at the festival, but also a range of rare string instruments crafted by Antonio Stradivarius and others. We will be able to enjoy the special sound of a fortepiano in spectacular works by Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann and Liszt. We are particularly proud to present the world-renowned oboist, conductor and composer Heinz Holliger as this year’s “composer in residence”.
Enjoy a fabulous Pentecost weekend full of musical and sensual delights in this unique and exclusive location. The concerts will be accompanied by a variety of culinary highlights served up in the festival tent by 15-point Gault & Millau master chef Bernhard Bühlmann. We recommend that you book early due to the highly limited number of seats.
We look forward to welcoming you to Brunegg.
